Right Skills Strategy delivers a $2 million boost to local skills
A total of $5 million has been set aside for tailored training and skills projects. This includes an extra $2 million through the Right Skills Strategy. So far, 6 organisations have received funding for projects across the state. Spanning from Logan to Rockhampton, the projects will support over 150 people in Queensland.
Funded projects include:
- Women will gain experience with Fulton Hogan on the Rockhampton Ring Road project. This project is led by Harness Energy Services.
- People in South East Queensland will get skills for entry-level construction jobs. The National Timber and Hardware Association will deliver this training.
- Club Queensland will upskill 45 community club workers in Cairns for leadership roles.
- Diverse people will be trained as teacher aides in Townsville schools. Regional Development Australia Townsville and North West Queensland will lead this project.
- Over 50 people will be trained for outdoor leisure jobs in South East Queensland. Active Industry Alliance Ltd will deliver this initiative.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Cairns will get skills for work in automotive jobs. Fresh Start Academy will drive this effort.
Local Skills Solutions will help Queenslanders live, learn and work in their communities.
