Delivering the right skills for Queensland in 2025–2026
In 2025–26, we invested in the skills Queensland needs now and in the future. This helped more Queenslanders get training, find job opportunities, and build the workforce our state needs. Read our Year in review: Training Priorities Plan 2025–2026 to see our key achievements.
These include:
- $674 million invested in training
- 220,000+ students in funded training
- 340+ Skills Assure Suppliers across Queensland
- 400+ qualifications funded in priority areas.
Skills for Queensland’s economy
We supported training in industries where skilled workers are needed most.
In 2025–26:
- more than 13,000 Queenslanders completed their apprenticeships
- Industry Skills Solutions projects supported over 2,500 participants
- 2,000 construction apprentices funded through the Small Business Apprenticeship Pilot Program
- Local Skills Solutions projects worth $5 million supported more than 250 job seekers.
Skills for Queenslanders
We also made it easier for Queenslanders to upskill, reskill and find meaningful work.
In 2025–26:
- over 220,000 Queenslanders took part in government-funded training
- more than 1,170 secondary school students joined the Career Tasters pilot
- 12 projects delivered foundation skills for 110 participants
- over 110 apprentices were supported through Reboot Your Trade Training
- 2,000 additional Free Nursing places were offered to support the health workforce.
A strong training system
A strong training system helped deliver the right skills in the right place at the right time.
In 2025–26, we:
- established a network of more than 340 Skills Assure Suppliers
- recorded 89% graduate satisfaction with training quality
- invested $2.6 million in applied research through the national TAFE Centres of Excellence
- committed $7.1 million for a new Manufacturing Centre of Excellence in Maryborough
- attracted 2,620+ expressions of interest through a $2 million TAFE teacher recruitment drive (by 30 June 2026).
